                Chris Thompson

I am so fortunate to work with an incredible organization called the YOUTH SINGERS OF CALGARY.  It is a choral arts program that incorporates everything from Mozart to Michael Jackson!  I am currently the Principle Choreographer for the organization, heading up a team of 12 incredible and talented choreographers and dance coaches who teach all the staging and choreography to a handful of divisional choirs, anywhere from little kids up to grandparents, and everything in-between!

SHOWCHOIR is unique and advanced skill for a choreographer.  I have taught movement for 1-2 singers up to 500+ singers, and I have taught performers who have just started to try choreography all the way to trained professional dancers.  The most unique skill-set I have developed is choreographing for dancers and SINGERS.  It is a whole new ballgame that few experience.

On the artistic staff of the Youth Singers of Calgary as the organization’s Principal Choreographer as well as a Director (ensemble Shine), Chris coaches triple threat skills for the High School and University-aged performing groups and has produced internationally acclaimed performances that have toured world-wide.  Chris also works as a contracted performance coach at several high schools and dance studios in Calgary focusing on musical theatre skills, and has taught staging and choreography for the University of Texas in Austin and Mirocosta College in San Diego.

On the educational side with so many young people with undiscovered talents, he takes every opportunity to help young performers reach their potential and become not only great performers and artists, but great citizens and leaders.
